Sector fluency

Understands how mission-led organisations actually work - funder reporting, board sign-off, budget accountability.

No surprise costs

Clear pricing upfront, including hosting and ongoing care - no vague scope creep.

Every project also holds to a few standards:

  • A genuine tech-for-good mission
  • Privacy-respecting by default
  • Security-aware development
  • Accessibility built in from the start

See Services for what the process looks like in practice, from a free first conversation through to launch and ongoing care.

If your organisation doesn't fit neatly into a category but the mission lines up, get in touch anyway - mission fit matters more than a label. See Who We Help for the full picture, or Ethics for who Flarewing won't work with, and why.

What Flarewing does

  • Technical consultancy

Before recommending anything, we work to understand what's actually going on - low donations, poor visibility, inefficient tooling, outdated systems. Sometimes that points to a smaller, cheaper, or different fix than what was first asked for, and that's fine.

  • Web & UX/UI design

Web layout and UX/UI design for whatever gets built, making sure the end product is clear, usable, and accessible for the people it's meant to serve. Print and full brand identity work sit outside this scope and are deferred to trusted external designers.

  • Development

Building the product itself - websites, web apps, and internal tools - using modern, maintainable technologies suited to what you actually need and the systems you're already running.

See services for the full breakdown of what's in and out of scope.

Built on values, not just code

A lot of the tech industry has drifted from why it exists in the first place - connecting people, sharing knowledge, and solving real problems that matter to them. Flarewing exists to pull back toward that original purpose, building technology that actually serves the people and causes it's meant for, rather than extracting from them.

Industries that don't genuinely improve people's quality of life, or the planet's, sit outside scope entirely - regardless of budget. Sustainability and privacy shape how projects get built too, from low-carbon hosting to favouring smaller, privacy-respecting European providers over the default Big Tech option.

That same thinking is also why Flarewing built PrivacyTrail - a free tool for discovering privacy-respecting alternatives to mainstream tech, so people have options to find a better replacement for almost any service they rely on. See Ethics for the full picture.

Tell us about your project

The first conversation is always free, with no obligation - even a rough idea or a problem you haven't fully defined yet is a good place to start. That stays true right up until we start shaping an actual solution. There's nothing to lose by just talking it through.

  • 1

    Send an enquiry

Share a few lines about what you're trying to do - it doesn't need to be fully worked out yet.

  • 2

    Free intro call

We'll talk it through together, no pitch deck, just a conversation about what might work.

  • 3

    Scoped together

If it's a fit, we shape the actual plan and next steps from there.
