About Flarewing

Flarewing is currently a solo operation, taking on a small number of projects at a time to keep quality and attention high - run by Hamzah, a technical consultant and software engineer with 20+ years of experience in web development (BSc Computing Science, First Class Honours, University of Newcastle upon Tyne), based in Cambridge, UK.

Before Flarewing, Hamzah spent five years at a genetics research company in Cambridge, building the platform that connects patients to precision-medicine clinical trials - matching participants to studies, running at-home genetic testing, and feeding results back to their own GP alongside their medical history. That work supported research into conditions including Parkinson's, lupus, and ulcerative colitis.

Passionate about user privacy, web security, and applying technology for good - including conservation, climate action, non-profits, charities, open-source, and education.

Why this work

Flarewing's founder got into technology because of how much good it could do for a community - connecting people, sharing knowledge, and solving real problems that mattered to them.

A lot of the industry has drifted from that: too much of it now is built around aggressive marketing, invasive data gathering, and tools that end up doing more harm than good to the people using them. Flarewing exists to pull back toward that original purpose - building technology that actually serves the people and causes it's meant for, rather than extracting from them.

See Ethics & Values for who Flarewing works with, and who it won't.

Working with Flarewing

Flarewing is currently a solo operation - you'll work directly with the engineer building your project, from the first conversation through to launch and support. No hand-offs between account management and delivery, and full attention on your project rather than several at once.
